Austin built AP Pest with the mission of creating pest-free environments for homes and businesses across the region. Meet Matt Lawless – Director of Operations and Technical Services at AP Pest. Matt Lawless is a co-owner of AP Pest and serves as our Director of Operations and Technical Services, as well as our lead technician. With a career spanning almost 30 years in pest management, Matt began his journey in 1998 with J.C. Ehrlich Company (now part of Rentokil Initial), where he excelled as a Service Technician in both residential and commercial environments. His dedication and expertise quickly propelled him to the role of National Technical Specialist, where he traveled extensively to tackle major pest issues in critical sectors, including healthcare, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and multi-family housing. Matt's wealth of experience has equipped him with countless fascinating stories from the field! Throughout his career, Matt has also served as Technical Innovations Manager for North American Operations, playing a pivotal role in researching and implementing cutting-edge technologies in the pest control industry. His notable projects include Remote Rodent Monitoring, Heat Treatments for Bed Bugs, and Vector Control solutions.In addition to his technical expertise, Matt has held the position of General Manager for several large companies across the East Coast, Midwest, and Southwest, often leading flagship branches to success. His influence has shaped the careers of numerous professionals in pest management.While he enjoys all facets of the industry, Matt’s true passion lies in Vector Control, particularly when it comes to mosquitoes. His enthusiasm for this topic is infectious, and he loves sharing his knowledge with others. When asked what motivates him to stay in pest management for nearly three decades, Matt cites one key factor: people. Whether it's training new technicians or resolving pest issues for customers, his commitment to helping others drives his work every day. Outside of his professional life, Matt resides in the East Valley of Phoenix, AZ, with his wife, Erin, and their two Beauceron dogs, Anya and Kenzo. An outdoor enthusiast, you can often find him hiking Arizona’s trails with his dogs. In his downtime, Matt enjoys responsibly indulging in craft beers and honing his skills as an avid woodworker.
